A rifle safe is a tall steel safe that stores long-barrelled firearms, handguns, ammunition and documents against theft, unauthorised access and risks such as fire. The right model is chosen according to the length and number of your firearms and the space where the safe will stand.
First, measure the length of your firearms
Height is the first criterion. Work out the interior height from the barrel length, accessories such as scopes, and the clearance a firearm needs to stand upright. ACK Metal's rifle and firearm safes range has two main sizes:
| Model | Height (mm) | Width (mm) | Depth (mm) | Weight (kg) | External volume (L) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| T-1500 | 1500 | 1000 | 660 | 1100 | 990 |
| T-1600 | 1600 | 800 | 660 | 1000 | 845 |
The T-1600 is 100 mm taller and 200 mm narrower than the T-1500: the extra height gives long-barrelled firearms more room, while the narrower body makes it easier to fit into limited wall spaces. The litre figure is calculated from the external dimensions; because of the concrete-filled body, the usable interior volume is smaller.
Body construction and security
- The body is made of C-30 concrete-filled steel; the outer body is 4 mm and the inner body 2 mm sheet steel, and the total body thickness including the fill is 60 mm.
- The door has an 8 mm outer body sheet and a 3 mm closing sheet; it is also reinforced with 8 mm puncture-resistant steel and 12 mm cast iron.
- The safe locks with 30 mm thick bolts, and once locked, the hinge connection is cut off.
- The lock section is protected by steel barriers; if the safe is attacked from outside, the self-locking glass hercules (re-locking) system comes into action.
- The safe is manufactured to Euro ECB-S standards; its mechanical parts carry a 2-year warranty.
Lock options
As standard, the safe comes with an ACK electronic combination lock that has successfully passed its tests, and a German-type lock that complies with European standards and has a 250,000/1 opening probability. If you wish, you can have Securam, Dorma-Kaba or La Gard electronic combination and fingerprint lock systems integrated, or opt for a mechanical lock. For firearm safes, an electronic combination or fingerprint lock suits you if you want quick access that stays closed to unauthorised people; a mechanical lock can be considered if you want a solution that does not depend on electricity.
Interior layout: gun slots, shelves and pockets
The interior is lined with a special velvet fabric that is moisture-resistant, stain-resistant and non-flammable, and does not damage the surface of the firearms. In the T series, gun slots, shelves and organiser pockets inside the door come together. The light grey version of the T-1500 has camouflage-pattern upholstery on the inside of the door, giving a hunting and nature-themed look, while the black- and grey-bodied versions offer the appearance of a classic firearm safe. Custom production is available in the size, colour, fabric and design you require.
Placement and fixing: weight is an advantage
The T-1500 weighs approximately 1100 kg and the T-1600 approximately 1000 kg. This weight makes the safe hard to move; however, before positioning it you need to check the floor strength and the transport route (door width, stairs, lift). Your orders are delivered and installed in 81 provinces; our installation team provides support with placement.
Who is it suitable for?
It is suitable for owners of hunting rifles and sport firearms, shooting and hunting clubs, businesses that keep firearms and ammunition, and collectors. For the legal obligations relating to storing firearms and ammunition, we also recommend checking the current regulations of the relevant authorities.
